May 6: The dynamics of forest health and history overview: Jason Sibold will give us an update on the state of our local forests, with an eye to the dynamics and species change we might see in the coming decades, and how the choices we make might affect that.

Speaker: Dr. Jason Sibold, Assistant Professor at Colorado State University.

May 13: The Forest Service approach: The Norwood Ranger District staff will provide an overview of current vegetation management priorities in the district including presentations on aspen regeneration, spruce beetle and other forest pests, and currently proposed SBEADMR (Spruce Beetle Epidemic and Aspen Decline Management Response) projects in the Telluride Region. Telluride is surrounded by Forest Service land and is host to the majority of the area's most popular recreation opportunities. May 27: Local initiatives on climate change and forest health: Join Executive Director of Eco-Action Partners Emma Gerona and Telluride Rotary Club’s Madeline Allen to learn more about mitigating and adapting to climate change. Learn more about the current county climate action plan and hear about local initiatives such as the regional tree-planting project, payment for ecosystem services programs, and other mitigation, adaptation, and education strategies.
